Legal Help
Find what you need to help yourself. We realize that sometimes you cannot get help from a lawyer because you cannot afford one or you decide that you want to represent yourself. You can use these pages to find out what you need to do if you are representing yourself.
Learn about the courts. Get information about the different courts in Wyoming, including court locations and the types of cases they handle.
Getting the right help. The best thing you can do if you have a legal problem is to talk with a lawyer. A lawyer can help with all or part of your case. Low-income individuals may qualify for free legal services.
Ask real lawyers questions. Volunteer attorneys answer your legal questions for free online.
Learn your rights. Legal aid clinics and law nights are designed to provide you with information about your rights, or give you brief advice about your legal problem. These events are staffed by attorneys from your community who want to help you understand your situation.
Learn about the law. Legal research is the process of finding the law and rules that apply to your legal problem or support your side in a legal case.
Share the burden. Limited-scope representation is an agreement between you and a lawyer, where the lawyer helps you with only part of your case while you do part of the case yourself.
Get free help filing your taxes. The federal Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program can help you prepare and file your taxes. Most people qualify.
